The university community is invited to attend a benchmark historical event for Appalachian as we place the flag of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians in its permanent home in the Plemmons Student Union.

The ceremony will be streamed live.

A reception will follow immediately in the Multicultural Center.

In recognition of a five-year partnership with Cherokee High School, as well as in acknowledgment of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians cultural heritage and presence in this area of the state, the flag will be positioned in a place of prominence alongside the American, Chinese and Israeli national flags.
