BOONE—The Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program at Appalachian State University will hold an open house Nov. 2 from 3:30-5 p.m. room 124A of the College of Education building.
The event will give prospective students and family members the opportunity to meet faculty and staff, and current students of the program.
The Master of Arts degree in clinical mental health counseling is a 60-hour accredited program housed in the Department of Human Development and Psychological Counseling. The program combines classroom instruction with structured field work experiences to prepare students as counselors. Faculty and students work together to create an inclusive environment that fosters personal and professional growth as the program attempts to produce counselors who are leaders and advocates as they carry out their roles in counseling, consultation and coordination.
There are concentrations available in addiction counseling, body-centered therapy, expressive arts therapy and marriage and family counseling. Certificates are available in addiction counseling and expressive arts therapy.
During the open house, students in the introduction to clinical mental health counseling class will present research posters. Refreshments will be available.
