BOONE—It’s time for a calypso break with the Steely Pan Steel Band. The ensemble will perform Oct. 30 at 8 p.m. in the Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts at Appalachian State University. Admission is $8.
The band is directed by Byron Hedgepeth, an instructor in the Hayes School of Music.
The concert ranges from music written specifically for steel drums to arrangements of pop compositions.
The program includes “Marianne,” “Sabre Dance,” “Jump in the Line,” “Tamboo Bamboo to Steel,” “Rubber Band Man,” “Cha Cha Sandwich” and “Under the Sea.”
