BOONE—Appalachian State University’s Hayes School of Music presents An Evening of Encores at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept.13. The program features the school of music’s faculty performing in the Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall, on the university campus.
The recital includes music from an array of composers. Douglas Miller (clarinet) and John Coffey (piano) open the program with Italian clarinetist and composer Luigi Bassi’s “Divertimento on Themes from Donizetti’s La Favorita.” Mezzo-soprano Mary Gayle Green and Rodney Reynerson (piano) will perform African-American singer, arranger and composer Henry Thacker Burleigh’s “Ride on King Jesus.” Nancy Bargerstock (violin), Eric Koontz (viola) and Bair Shagdaron (piano) will perform English classical composer Rebecca Clarke’s “Dumka.” Vocalist Lauren Hayworth will collaborate with Rob Falvo on vibraphone to perform the jazz standard “Detour Ahead.”
