BOONE—The Appalachian Clarinet Choir and smaller chamber ensembles of clarinetists will perform at 6 p.m. Nov. 9 in the Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall at Appalachian State University. This is a Hayes School of Music event. Admission is free.
The program will feature chamber music composed or arranged for multiple clarinets and/or piano, and it will feature two selections arranged for clarinet choir. Andrea L. Cheeseman, a professor of clarinet at Appalachian, directs the Appalachian Clarinet Choir, a 19-member ensemble, and she coaches the smaller ensembles.
The chamber music portion of the program will include Robert Organn’s “Divertimento”; Frank Tichelli’s “Shenendoah”; and Julius Fucik’s “Entry of the Gladiators.” Also featured will be William Presser’s “Chorale Fantasy” and “Bacchanale” from Camille Saint-Saens’ opera “Samson and Delilah.” Pianist Eric Luke will be featured in the music by Presser and Saint-Saens.
As for the clarinet choir, it will perform the “Allegretto” movement from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 and Haydn’s “Allegro.”
