BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State University will host Fulbright Week 2018, an inaugural event organized and supported by multiple partners across campus, including administrative offices and faculty, from Feb. 5-9.
A plethora of events have been planned to share the many opportunities available to faculty and students through Fulbright, answer questions about the program and advise how to prepare a strong Fulbright application.
A representative of the Fulbright Scholar Program from the Institute of International Education (IIE) and Fulbright Foreign Scholar Dr. Mimouna Zitouni, associate professor of sociolinguistics, computer mediated discourse and English for Specific Purposes at the University of Oran, in Algeria, will also be available for consultation during the week.
Dr. Maria Anastasiou, executive director of Appalachian’s Office of International Education and Development, said, “The Fulbright Week at Appalachian is designed to increase awareness about this program and to share all the resources and support structures Appalachian has created to help students, faculty and staff apply for these amazing opportunities. Appalachian is proud to have a high number of Fulbright student and scholar alumni, and with our campus resources, we can make that number much higher!”
Fulbright Week is sponsored by Appalachian’s Office of International Education and Development, the Office of Research and the Center for Academic Excellence.
