BOONE, N.C. — Dr. Sandra Vannoy has been named acting dean of Appalachian State University’s Walker College of Business (WCOB) effective Feb. 10. Vannoy is filling the role held by Dr. Heather Hulburt Norris, who has assumed the position of interim vice provost and executive vice chancellor.
“Sandy’s steadfast leadership and student-focused approach will serve her well in her role as acting dean,” Norris said. “I thank Sandy for her continued service to the Walker College and know the entire college will continue supporting her in this new role.”
Vannoy joined the Walker College of Business faculty as a lecturer in the Department of Computer Information Systems in 1998. She became an assistant professor in 2010, and was named assistant dean for graduate programs and research in 2014. Vannoy was promoted to associate professor and associate dean in 2015, and was promoted to professor in 2019.
In her role as associate dean for graduate programs and research, she directed the MBA program and the implementation of the Master of Science in applied data analytics. She also established the college’s professional education program, directed the college’s undergraduate honors program and recently led the effort for an online MBA to launch in fall 2020.
She holds an MBA from Appalachian State University and a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
