BOONE—Appalachian State University’s Guitar Orchestra will perform on Sunday, April 24, at 8 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall. Admission is free.
The orchestra will be directed by Douglas James and will feature 27 students from the Hayes School of Music.
The concert will begin with “Tin Whistle Suite” and “Radiohead Suite” arranged by Alan Hirsh.
Then, two guitarists will perform “Unity Village” by Pat Metheny. Two guitarists will then perform “Tango Suite for Two Guitars” by Astor Piazzolla.
The concert also includes several traditional Irish selections on the guitar, bodhrán, fiddle and tin whistle. Vivaldi’s “Concerto for Lute, RV 93” featuring soloist Robert J. Wuagneaux concludes the performance.
