    A research paper on urban stream restoration written by Assistant Professor Kristan Cockerill and Professor Bill Anderson from Appalachian State University has received the 2015 Boggess Award for the best paper published in 2014 in the Journal of the American Water Resources Association.

    Student teams from 21 schools across North America participated in the competition using a cloud-based simulator software to solve common printing press related problems, such as color misregistration, causes of wrinkled paper, settings or environment-related conditions that affect the quality of the printed job. Scoring was based on producing the most cost-efficient printed job.

    Grimsley's book “How I Shed My Skin: Unlearning the Racist Lessons of a Southern Childhood,” published in April by Algonquin Books, has been called “a powerful meditation on race” by former U.S. Poet Laureate Natasha Trethewey, and “a sensitive memoir that probes the past to discover what and how Grimsley learned about race, equality and democracy ‘from the good white people’ in his family and community,” according to Kirkus Reviews.
