    Both Sage and Small are first-year computer science majors. Each receives a $4,000 per year scholarship in addition to $500 each year for materials such as software or a computer application for research, which the ECRS scholarship promotes.

    Appalachian’s Board of Trustees adopted a resolution in support of underrepresented students on Friday, Sept. 23. Appalachian’s Faculty Senate adopted a similar resolution on Monday, Sept. 19. On Wednesday, Sept. 28, Chancellor Sheri N. Everts announced a change in the facilities use policy related to chalking messages on university sidewalks.
