Coopers, Maness receive Honorary Alumni Awards at Appalachian State University

The film explores the history of Western North Carolina’s worst natural disaster. One hundred years ago this past July, 22 inches of rain fell in a 24-hour period, raising the French Broad River 17 feet above flood stage and causing extensive flooding throughout the western part of the state.

Mikayla Sage and Cameron Small are winners of Appalachian’s 2016 ECRS Computer Science Innovation and Entrepreneurship scholarships

Both Sage and Small are first-year computer science majors. Each receives a $4,000 per year scholarship in addition to $500 each year for materials such as software or a computer application for research, which the ECRS scholarship promotes.
