Appalachian State University’s solar vehicle team, Team Sunergy, has taken third place in the Formula Sun Grand Prix at the Pittsburgh International Race Complex in Wampum, Pennsylvania. Under heavy cloud cover and some rain, the team completed the race on July 28 with a total of 414 laps.
Women’s Fund of the Blue Ridge awards Appalachian’s ACCESS program $5,000 for summer school opportunities

At the close of the 2016 fiscal year, Appalachian State University’s Office of Research (OR) reported receiving more than $15 million in external funding – grants from government, non-profit agencies, business and industry — which surpassed a goal set in the university’s 2014 – 2019 Strategic Plan to increase grant funding to $15 million by the year 2019.

Laura Parker, a 2011 graduate of Appalachian State University’s Master of Arts program in romance languages, was recently named the North Carolina French Teacher of the Year by the North Carolina Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of French (NC-AATF). Parker teaches French at Burns High School in Lawndale.
