Dan “Vallie” Hill, practitioner-in-residence in the Department of Communication at Appalachian and WASU-FM manager, was awarded the North Carolina Association of Broadcasters (NCAB) 2017 Wade H. Hargrove Community Leadership Award in June. The award is given to North Carolina broadcasters who have demonstrated a commitment to public service in their communities.
High Country Half Marathon Announces New Route for 2017 Race

As the second race in the High Country Triple Crown series, the High Country Half Marathon is celebrating its seventh annual race. All proceeds benefit Girls on the Run of the High Country, a self-confidence building program for girls in the third through eighth grades.
