Appalachian’s solar vehicle team places third in the Formula Sun Grand Prix

Appalachian State University’s solar vehicle team, Team Sunergy, has taken third place in the Formula Sun Grand Prix at the Pittsburgh International Race Complex in Wampum, Pennsylvania. Under heavy cloud cover and some rain, the team completed the race on July 28 with a total of 414 laps.
Appalachian alumna named N.C. French Teacher of the Year

Laura Parker, a 2011 graduate of Appalachian State University’s Master of Arts program in romance languages, was recently named the North Carolina French Teacher of the Year by the North Carolina Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of French (NC-AATF). Parker teaches French at Burns High School in Lawndale.

A total of 3,088 undergraduate students and 329 graduate students received degrees during Appalachian State University’s May 2016 Commencement. Chancellor Sheri N. Everts told them, “Thank you for being part of our Appalachian community. Please know you will always be a part of this great university, as you are our most enduring legacy.”
