    App State’s Dr. Suzanna Bräuer, professor of biology, has been awarded a 2020–21 Fulbright to research how methane-producing microorganisms known as archaea impact global climate change. Her Fulbright assignment takes her to Finland, where she is also teaching graduate courses at the University of Eastern Finland.

    After conducting a national search, App State has appointed Dr. Martie Thompson as its inaugural Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Endowed Professor in Public Health. Thompson, who comes to App State from Clemson University, will join the faculty in App State’s Beaver College of Health Sciences in August.

    Dr. Sandie Gravett, professor of religious studies at App State, has received the 2020 Academic Freedom and Faculty Governance Award for her work as an advocate for App State’s students, faculty and administrators.
