    Anita Greene and Quson Brown were sworn in to terms on the App State Board of Trustees on June 17. Greene, who was appointed to the board by the UNC System Board of Governors, will serve until 2023, and Brown, App State’s student body president for 2022–23, will serve a one-year term.

    App State alumna Karolyn Martin ’22 was named Miss North Carolina 2022, becoming the second consecutive Mountaineer to receive the honor. Martin, an Honors College student, graduated from App State with a bachelor’s degree in communications studies.

    A multidisciplinary team of App State students captured a second-place win in the 2021–22 Solar District Cup, recognized for their solar power system design. This national competition challenges students to develop renewable energy solutions for college campuses or urban districts.

    App State alumni Payton Blaney ’22, Andrew Williard ’22, Henry Campbell ’21 and Ilya Wang ’20 have been awarded 2022–23 Fulbright grants. Beginning in fall 2022, they will travel abroad to fulfill English language teaching assistantships or engage in research.
