Mountaineers moving mountains

Stories of how members of the Appalachian Community are adapting to a new normal

In mid-March, Appalachian State University’s faculty, staff and students moved to teleworking, online courses and alternative delivery options for dining and other student services due to circumstances surrounding COVID-19.

Faculty and staff worked to transition in-person events and experiences — such as a fundraising 5K and career resources — to online platforms, and to share ideas for how the Appalachian Community can make the most out of time at home. They have also reported finding new opportunities to enhance teaching and learning through virtual platforms.
