After conducting a national search, App State has appointed Dr. Martie Thompson as its inaugural Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Endowed Professor in Public Health. Thompson, who comes to App State from Clemson University, will join the faculty in App State’s Beaver College of Health Sciences in August.

Such activity can reduce stress and ease depression and anxiety for people of all ages, and also reduce the symptoms of ADHD in children, he said.
App State students, faculty create rock kits for students across NC

In this outreach initiative by the Department of Geological and Environmental Sciences, students and faculty have made 1,600 educational kits for area schoolchildren in eight counties to help them learn about geology. The Rockin’ NC kits contain rock samples and other educational materials. They are designed to substitute the in-person presentations faculty and students would typically make before the pandemic.
