App Builds a Home is raising funds and building walls

With the foundation and fundraising nearly complete for App State’s second App Builds a Home (ABAH) project, a “Walls-Up Build Week” event is scheduled on the App State campus in April to construct walls for a home built in partnership with Watauga County Habitat for Humanity.

App State’s Dr. Suzanna Bräuer, professor of biology, has been awarded a 2020–21 Fulbright to research how methane-producing microorganisms known as archaea impact global climate change. Her Fulbright assignment takes her to Finland, where she is also teaching graduate courses at the University of Eastern Finland.

After conducting a national search, App State has appointed Dr. Martie Thompson as its inaugural Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Endowed Professor in Public Health. Thompson, who comes to App State from Clemson University, will join the faculty in App State’s Beaver College of Health Sciences in August.
