    Appalachian State University is among four universities receiving Flash Grants from NCBiotech to pursue research projects that show early indications of commercial potential. Appalachian received $20,000 to develop a new method of stabilizing insulin so it can be shipped and stored at room temperature, which would reduce the medicine’s cost.

Their grant proposal was titled “Rural School Mental Health Training and Service Provision in North Carolina.”

    Curt and Linda Gillespie of Blowing Rock and Naples, Fla., were so inspired by the hard work at the first High Country Blitz Build, which was completed within 48 hours on Sept. 21-22 in affiliation with Watauga Habitat for Humanity and the student-led organization App Builds a Home of Appalachian State University, that they made a matching gift to the project.
