App State’s Skip the Bag program supports sustainable shopping by providing Mountaineers with wooden nickels as an incentive to forgo single-use plastic bags for their purchases. The wooden tokens are converted to monetary contributions made to campus organizations.

The paper, published in the Nature Portfolio Journal Climate and Atmospheric Science, identifies that Mount Everest’s highest glacier is now losing several decades of ice accumulation annually, which is attributed to the earth's warmer climate.
