Ghouls, ghosts and goblins gathered on App State’s campus — and virtually — Oct. 16 for the 11th annual Spooky Duke Race and Costume Contest. The event raised more than $25,000 to benefit App State’s Parent to Parent Family Support Network-High Country, which assists regional families who have children with special needs.

New name for App State’s Founders Hall honors benefactor who was born there

App State’s Founders Hall has a new name: Watson-Brumit Hall. The building was dedicated on Sept. 18, in honor of Janice Watson Brumit ’75 — a distinguished alumna and benefactor who was born in the building when it was Watauga County Hospital.

Honoring the legacy of a distinguished Mountaineer

App State dedicated its Jerry Moore Plaza at Kidd Brewer Stadium prior to the Mountaineers’ first home football game of the 2021 season — honoring the legacy of the former App State head football coach. The plaza features a bronze statue in Moore’s likeness, which was unveiled during the event.
FEMA vaccine clinics on App State’s campus Sept. 19–22

Free COVID-19 vaccines will be administered from a FEMA mobile unit on the App State campus starting Sunday, Sept. 19, through Wednesday, Sept. 22. Pfizer, Moderna and Janssen vaccines will be available for the campus and High Country communities.
